Pittsburg to buy back guns at March 16 eventPosted: 02/19/2013 10:32:58 PM PST PITTSBURG -- Pittsburg will have a gun buy back event, police Chief Brian Addington told City Council members Tuesday. The buy back will take place March 16 at civic center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m and be limited to Bay Point and Pittsburg residents, Addington said. The program will pay $200 for firearms and $300 for assault weapons. |

Chief Addington also explained at last night's City Council meeting, to an appreciative, applauding audience, that:
- $50 will also be paid for inoperable weapons
- Ammunition will not be bought-back, but may be turned-in -- for safe disposal -- AT ANY TIME, year-round -- no questions asked
- Collected weapons will be destroyed
- This will be for residents of Pittsburg or Bay Point, only -- (residency will be verified)
This morning, I discovered, to my delight, that the Pittsburg PD Facebook page is "heating up." Very important information is being placed there, AND CITIZENS HAVE A CHANCE TO TALK, INFORMALLY WITH THE DEPARTMENT -- to show our support and to impart relevant information.
- Recommendation: Visit the PPD Facebook page, regularly, to stay abreast of goings-on in this extremely important facet of civil living.
- Also, remember that you can ALWAYS get easy access to a host of similarly important links to ALL of our government levels on this blog's "Quick Access" page.
