"Second Calling" to Perform

1.  Local band "Second Calling" is scheduled to perform at the Pittsburg Farmers Market on Saturday, August 24, bringing bluegrass to Old Town at this free public event.

2.  The market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Plaza, along Railroad Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets. Come to the market for fresh produce, treats and fun activities.

3.  "Second Calling" is a unique East Bay band, formed by experienced musicians who found a renewed passion in creating music as life slowed a bit on other fronts.

  • The blend of music spans decades and is rooted in bluegrass, with additional songs and influences coming from country, folk, gospel, Celtic, Old-Time and Western swing. 
  • The group performs at a variety of venues throughout the Bay Area, including restaurants, farmers' markets, festivals, and private events. 

4.  The Certified Farmers Market operates Saturday mornings through October 26.

  • Exception: the Farmers Market will not be held on Saturday, September 7 due to the Seafood Festival.

6.  Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association operates the market as a project of the Los Medanos Community Healthcare District, Pittsburg Power Company, Pittsburg Arts and Community Foundation, Inc. and the City of Pittsburg.
