ON FACEBOOK -- PITTSBURG SEAFOOD FESTIVAL (9/6/SAT & 9/7/SUN)

Posted:  26 Jul 14

Friends, Neighbors, and Future-Friends,

1.  This is to call your attention and link you to the Pittsburg (CA) Chamber of Commerce's Facebook Page, dedicated to this City's Annual Seafood Festival -- Saturday and Sunday, 9/6 and 9/7.

2.  I've invited all of my Facebook Friends (and Family) to click the FB "like" signal -- and I hope you will invite all of yours, too:   (It tells you how to do this, when you arrive at the page)

-- so that they might behold and appreciate (if only for a delightful few moments) one of the prides-and-joys of this magnificent City -- at the conjunction of two important California rivers -- that feed-into the magnificent, world-class harbor -- San Francisco Bay -- and finally -- on through a spell-binding golden gateway -- to blend with
the majestic Pacific Ocean.

3.  Who knows?  It just might stimulate a visit here and who knows what other favorable chain-reactions -- to everyone's benefit.

Hope to see you there,
(both places -- on Facebook AND at the Festival)!

David Nelson

BUY LOCAL #1 -- Pittsburg -- Highlands Square Shopping Center

Posted:  5 Feb 13

BUY IN PITTSBURG, FIRST!!!
Then, as a stronger community,
let's lift up those who surround us,
higher than ever!
Friends,

Our neighbors at The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce are doing yet another clever thing on Facebook! (Please see, below)

I've always felt it to be important to first look out for "home base."  In no way does this slight our neighboring sister-towns and communities -- for we need them to prosper, too.  But to do our best for them, we must be a strong and vibrant City, ourselves.

Last fall's election showed the City Fathers and Mothers, that we approved their request for a "sales tax increase," as necessary, under the circumstances, as we understand them.  Now, to make that tax-increase bear the desired fruit, we must spend as many dollars here as possible.

This, in addition to the fact that our local businesses need to flourish, in order for Pittsburg to do so.

David Nelson

P.S.  And, let's all be "joiners."  Let's join as many community-building opportunities as we can:  The Chamber of Commerce, the social causes, the schools, the Historical Society, the various Cultural Arts efforts, Military and Veterans associations, everything we can.  It's so worthwhile, fun, and self-enriching.  We can make Pittsburg into any good thing we wish -- if we wish.  Oh, there's going to be much, much more about all of this, coming soon, in this blog!

Here's The Chamber, in it's own Facebook words:

Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce MIXER, 2/13/Wed - 5:30 to 7:00 pm

Posted:  12 Feb 13

Great opportunity to build a strong network with business professionals!
Hey Business Community (small and large)

Come out and join us tomorrow night (2/13/Wed) from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for a Mixer at La Pinata Pittsburg.

Great opportunity to build a strong network with business professionals.

-- From Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce

Definitions, Links and Discussions

Networking:  Developing and using contacts made in business for purposes beyond the reason for the initial contact.  For example, a sale representative may ask a customer for names of others who may be interested in his product (Entrepreneur website)

Business networking is a socioeconomic activity by which groups of like-minded businesspeople recognize, create, or act upon business opportunities. A business network is a type of social network whose reason for existing is business activity. (Wikipedia discussion)

How to Network Successfully (Google search for tips)

-- David Nelson

Tips to consider:

  • -- Bring plenty of business cards (or flyers) to exchange, if available.

  • -- On receipt of each business card, consider writing date of contact on the reverse (to keep the card meaningful, if kept)

  • -- Soon after meeting, jot a note or two, on back of card, to jog memory about the new contact, later (to keep the card even more meaningful, if kept)

  • -- Have a single regular place to accumulate cards, unless a better system is available to you.
     ... just saying
