President Obama on Immigration Announcement
This afternoon, President Obama discussed a new Department of Homeland Security policy that will allow certain young people who were brought to the United States as young children, and do not present a risk to national security or public safety, and meet several key criteria to be considered for relief from removal from the country or from entering into removal proceedings.

Dear Friend:

Today President Obama announced a new immigration policy that will help young people who were brought to this country from abroad as children.  Under this new policy, young people who would have qualified under the DREAM Act - legislation I strongly support - will be  able to remain in the United States without the constant threat of deportation.  To read more, please click here.

I applaud the President for helping these talented young people continue to contribute to the country they call home.  It was the right thing to do, and now Congress must take the next step by passing comprehensive reforms that will fix our nation’s broken immigration system.
Sincerely,

Barbara Boxer
United States Senator
