HEROES: POLICE DOG FUNDING DRIVE (6/30 - 7/1)

HELP PROTECT THE DOGS THAT HELP PROTECT US
-- and give your own beloved dogs a treat, at the very same time

IN A NUTSHELL
This is a way to pamper your well-deserving pooches AND contribute to making other dogs -- those loyal, beautiful, invaluable police dogs -- more secure -- with "bullet-proof K-9 vests and other life-saving K-9 equipment."
What you do is, wash your dog at any PET FOOD EXPRESS, this weekend (June 30 / July 1), and ALL proceeds go toward this very sensible cause.  What a wonderful way to do two nice things, at the very same time.
There even exists a non-profit organization, "Cover your K-9" (also on Facebook).  In their own words:
"We help keep K-9s safe with bulletproof vests, Trauma Kits, Heat alarms for patrol cars and a retired K-9 Emergency Medical Fund for our hardworking police and sheriff's dogs around Northern California."

THE PRIMARY SOURCES
0630 0355 -- This morning, I spotted this information on our Police Department's Facebook page -- which also led to this flyer.  Sorry for the short notice.

And, while we're talking about guarding our domestic tranquility:
Each August, the City has held "National Night Out" at our truly lovely Small World Park.  It's a delightful time for all -- a big party -- a chance to meet and see and talk with our "first responders" (and one another).  It's one of those good and simple things we can do for ourselves and with those extraordinarily brave human beings (and their dogs) who serve us on the "front lines" of a hazardous world.
Please note:  The City hasn't stated their intentions for this year, yet, so this is
just an "early heads-up," with more information to follow, as it becomes available.
Here's what the national organization says on their website:
"National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation."

Here's to an ever-safer, ever-happier
village-like City!
