New Adventures and New Beginnings   Get Even Closer to Wildlife The Animal Encounters department is offering two exciting new opportunities to explore what it's like to work with our unique collection of animal ambassadors. In Eagle Encounter, come face to beak with our resident bald and golden eagles. Learn from eagle handlers what it is like to work with these magnificent birds, help prepare an eagle meal and get premium seating for the exhibit hall presentation of Raptors! This program is offered Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, 12 – 2. Keeping up with the Keepers brings you behind the scene to experience first hand what it is like to be an animal keeper. Meet resident animal ambassadors (reptile, bird and mammal) up close and help animal keepers prepare meals, create enrichment activities and even assist with a public presentation. This program is offered Thursdays and Saturdays, 2 – 4. Cost: $150 per person for members, $175 for non-members. Guardian/child combinations are $250 for members and $275 for non-members. Sign the kids up now to have a blast winding up their summer vacations! July days are long and hot—just perfect for Splash Bash or Animal Hide & Seek mini camps! In August, we are celebrating the Olympics with our very own Animal Olympics. Find out who flies, runs or swims the fastest! Kids can also learn how to capture great images of live, moving animals in Photographing Live Animals mini camp.   Share Your Love and Knowledge of Nature with Kids Become an education docent and provide interactive programs both in the museum and in the school classroom. Education docents connect children with wildlife to inspire responsibility and respect for the world we share. Training begins September 10 and continues on Monday mornings until November 26. For more information, contact Polly Gusa at pgusa@wildlife-museum.org or 925-627-2944.   An Evening at Va de Vi Bistro & Wine Bar Sunday, September 9 at 5 PM Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 9 for a delightful evening at Va de Vi Bistro & Wine Bar in Walnut Creek, recognized for the eighth year running as a Top 100 Bay Area Restaurant by the San Francisco Chronicle. Proceeds will help fund the rehabilitation and education programs at the museum. For reservations visit our website or call 925-627-2950   Foxy Fun Kin-tah, our resident gray fox, is in training! He's been working hard to prepare for upcoming public fox programs. Come visit on members-only Tuesdays at 3:15 to watch him work with his keeper and learn more about how we interact with our wild animals.   Young Philanthropist We were recently approached by an amazing 5-year-old philanthropist, Naomi, a little girl with a big heart for animals. At her preschool, each graduating student is tasked with fundraising for a charity, and Naomi selected Lindsay Wildlife Museum as her recipient because she wants to help sick and injured animals. Through her lemonade stand and associated outreach, she raised $2,560 for the museum! Thank you, Naomi!   Cars for Wildlife Know of an unused vehicle sitting around? Put it to good use helping wildlife by donating it to the museum! All car donation proceeds support the museum's wildlife hospital and education programs.
