Accomplished teacher, composer and jazz bassist Marcus Shelby brings dynamic vocalist Faye Carol and a jazz orchestra to the California Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 16. Tickets are still available for this event. Marcus Shelby is a renowned music educator and arranger based in San Francisco. Faye Carol is a former Pittsburg resident who has built a stellar career as a jazz performer and educator. Saturday's show is the latest in the Pittsburg Pops series of live concerts sponsored by the Pittsburg Arts and Community Foundation. The Foundation is a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting literacy, performing arts, visual arts and cultural events. The California Theatre is located at 351 Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg. To purchase tickets, call the box office at (925) 427-1611 or go online at www.pittsburgcaliforniatheatre.com. Earlier in the day, Mr. Shelby will present a free interactive music workshop at the Community Room at the Pittsburg Library at 80 Power Avenue.
