To provide more information -- local and national -- to fellow citizens, concerning the upcoming elections.
Discussion.
- LOCAL: Immediately below this introduction is provided information concerning City Council elections, as to status of candidates and nominees. This information was provided, courtesy of Mrs. Alice Evenson, Pittsburg City Clerk. Once the filing-deadline has passed next Friday, a final list of candidates will become available and published here and elsewhere.
- LOCAL: A link has been provided with the name of candidates known to have a Campaign and/or other Facebook page. As other information becomes available from the candidates, it will be accumulated in this blog (probably within a revision to this page).
- NATIONAL: In addition, here is a SUMMARY OF NOVEMBER 6, 2012, GENERAL ELECTION CALENDAR from the California Secretary of State.
- NATIONAL: Additional information from the California Secretary of State was published in this blog on 2 August.

Here is the list of folks that have taken out Nomination Papers:
Ben Johnson (incumbent - [and current Mayor])
Will Casey (incumbent)
Robert “Bob” Lewis
Geneva “Gigi” Fernandez
William Lee
George J. Harris
Will Casey has filed and has been confirmed as an official candidate.
Bob Lewis filed this afternoon and has not yet been confirmed. I expect to know his status by Tuesday some time.
The last date to file is Friday, August 10 by 5:00 p.m.
