SHOP PITTSBURG

PLEASE SHOP PITTSBURG, with a strong will!!!

It's good for business -- for the people who have optimistically staked much on the gamble that they can serve us well and be fairly rewarded for their courageous risk.

It's good for increased employment opportunities -- for a successful business is a growing one, which often means hiring more help -- who then have the power to buy more things (employer and employee) and pay taxes -- feeding back into the economy and the general well-being.

It's good for a happy and healthy home-town, county, region, state, and nation -- for we are all part of ONE, GREAT chain-reaction and a shared destiny.

It's good for local government power and services (helping to improve tax revenues, through growth of the "normal tax base" AND through the recent sale tax increase we voters just approved and which "kicks-in" in October 2012).

*****

Now, I'm not saying that we ought to allow our businesses to not compete for our dollars -- by optimizing their products and services, in considerate response to our ever-changing demands and needs.  But, if there is a reasonable choice and chance to favor local businesses, shouldn't we do so?

We do need surrounding businesses, beyond Pittsburg, to survive and prosper -- and throughout the County, Bay Area, State and Nation -- for as they rise, so shall we.

But, first, we must take care of home, so we are better suited for our larger missions.  If we don't, who will?  If not now, when?

In my humble opinion,

David Nelson,
